Northwest Territories Power Corporation is the second largest province or territory in Canada. The Northwest Territories has a land mass of 1,171,918 square kilometers and a population of 42,000 in 32 communities. Yellowknife is the territorial capital and largest centre, with 18,000 inhabitants.  

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation's head office is located in Hay River. There are also 4 regional offices. The Northwest Terriroties Power Corporation serves a population of 42,000 with 27 isolated systems across the Northwest Territories.

For diesel generation, the Northwest Territories Power Corporation has 25 plants, including 6 standby plants, a genset size of 40kW to 5,180kW, a fleet age of 1960 vintage to 2007, a total of 90 units and another 3 units with 7.7MW installed capacity of NG in Inuvik, and emergency units, which consit of 4 flyable units (320-450 kW) and one mobile unit (1,500 kW).
